Books of March - Week 1

Finished recently:

My French Whore - Gene Wilder, 2007 - read for Virago =, but can't attend meeting.  Nvella about  man who ends up impersonating a German spy during WW I. Reminded me of the movie "Catch Me If You Can". Sweet and sad.

The Madonnas of Leningrad - Debra Dean, 2006 - read for LLB and discussed at Geri's on 3/12.  Enjoyed both the detailed description of the Hermitage Museum during WWII's Siege of Leningrad and the modern-day experience of Alzheimer's disease.  Carol and Caroline found it a little too depressing, wished it was only about the historic side of story.  Geri said she got more out of it after discussing and loved the historic aspects.

"Rumors" - Neil Simon - Cecily is in this play next month playing Claire.  Lots of quick repartee as everyone tries to hide events from each other.  Should be funny.
